Our client, a large GTA based manufacturing company, is looking for a Divisional Controller to manage the financial and accounting system controls and standards to ensure the delivery of financial and statistical reports for a specific division of the company.
A service-driven company, our client has grown to become one of Canada’s leading manufacturers; located in Scarborough, the successful candidate will report to the corporate controller.
Ensure prompt and comprehensive responses to queries and assignments from senior management
Participate in the development of operational objectives that are aligned to Corporate and Division strategic objectives
Lead proactive development of contingency plans, productivity improvement and corrective actions to ensure optimal facility financial results and shareholder value
Lead financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
Prepare and deliver the financial forecasts and projections
Manage monthly closing process in conjunction with the Accounting team
Communicate financial results effectively to management and non-financial personnel
Provide in-depth analysis on variances to plan and forecast
Provide risk analysis for contingency planning
Develop training materials, processes and controls
Ensure that GL and P&L statements are prepared in a timely and accurate manner
Investigate all questionable GL transactions for validity
Provide analysis of significant variances from previous year’s numbers
Perform other tasks or jobs as required
The candidate will hold a university degree in commerce/finance and a professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA) and have at least 6-10 years of post-qualification experience at a senior finance level
Has a sense of urgency to get things done quickly
Works well under pressure and deadlines
Excels at building relationships with operational management personnel
Exceptional background in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
Extensive experience in a manufacturing environment with a good understanding of production costing
Experience working with ERP systems in the manufacturing industry, as well as a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data manipulation using applications such as Crystal Reports
