Position Overview:

Operations: To consistently deliver a clean, safe, prepared and well maintained facility

.Oversee day to day facility maintenance and housekeeping of kitchens and tents

. Prioritize and assign daily work to dishwashers / potwashers, kitchen help and cleaners

.Prioritize, coordinate and delegate multiple tasks and responsibilities based on business needs and special events

.Ensure quality and efficiency of work performance

.Oversee sanitary and service procedures by staff in kitchens

.Conduct physical inspection in kitchens and storage areas during shift to ensure cleanliness

. Provide china and smallware delivery to all locations in a timely manner

.Requisition daily supplies for dishwashers and night cleaners

.Control and organize Laundry Department procedures

.Uphold and enforce compliance with sanitation and hygiene techniques for all cleaning tasks as per department

.Investigate assess and resolve routine problems related to equipment , supplies and materials

.Conduct weekly cleaning supply inventory

Customer Service: To demonstrate service excellence by consistently delivering timely, quality work and team responsiveness

.Demonstrate and model professionalism, courtesy, consideration and respect to internal and WEG customers at all times

. Develop and maintain relationships with Kitchens and Dining Room Departments to effectively coordinate work

.Respond in a timely and effective manner to unexpected and immediate needs of customers

.Interact with customers to monitor level of service satisfaction and deal with complaints / corrections immediately

Staffing: Lead, develop and motivate staff to consistently uphold and deliver service and performance excellence

. Supervise and coordinate activities of pot washers, cleaners and laundry attendants

.Provide ongoing guidance, coaching and feedback to develop employee skills, productivity and teamwork

.Train personnel on WHMIS and operation of equipment

.Communicate and uphold company policies, regulations and performance standards

.Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Acts and regulations

.Support staff in sanitizing tasks

.Uphold and enforce compliance with employee uniform and grooming standards at all times

. Monitor and appraise staff performance

.Conduct period end staff performance reviews

.Take disciplinary action when necessary in consultation with Chief Steward and / or Executive Chef

.Maintain daily staff attendance records

.Manage staff scheduling within collective agreements and budgetary guidelines

.Recruit and hire staff in collaboration with Chief Steward

.Contribute to content of staff meetings and conduct staff briefings in absence of Chief Steward

Financial / Admin:

.Organize and control payroll through Kronos system ¡±"X Maintain labour costs at designated levels

. Plan budgets for replacement smallware, china and cutlery in collaboration with Chief Steward

.Requisition cleaning and other supplies to support business volumes and requirements to kitchens and Dining Rooms

.Assist Chief Steward in establishing guidelines for recycling and health and safety programs

.Develop and maintain controls for shrinkage and waste in collaboration with Chief Steward

.Control, receive, store and issue chemical, smallware, china and cutlery inventory

.Investigate accidents and return accurate reports

Communication: Manage information to maintain and improve service satisfaction, teamwork and operational effectiveness

.Inform Chief Steward / Executive Chef of any occurrences which may be damaging to customer relations

.Inform Chief Steward / Executive Chef of any occurrences which may impede operational efficiency

.Report daily performance issues to Chief Steward

.Report and follow up on faulty equipment in need of repair to Maintenance Department

.Identify and recommend opportunities for improving service or operational performance to Chief Steward


Experience/Training/Special Skills/Education Required

.Experience working in Hotel Stewarding Department / Banquet functions

.Minimum 1 to 2 years Supervisory experience

.Certified in WHMIS

. Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety issues

.Certified in Safe Food Handling

.Experience working in unionized environment

.Experience with PC network and associated business software

. "G" class license required
