PURPOSE OF JOB:
Responsible for the functional design and architecture of application systems across all technologies and platforms, supporting the FX business unit of CIBC Wholesale Bank.
Translate user requirements to process and data requirements. Design application's technical infrastructure, such as specific databases, programming languages, utilities, and testing approaches.
Design and/or integrate solutions for the processing of data and development of precise steps and processing logic across all platforms.
Provide broad understanding of platforms and applications across all technologies.
Ensure the designed specifications achieve business needs.
Analyzing project and/or technical risk, using available information, to support business recommendations.
Analyzing business and/ or client processes and practices to identify and recommend opportunities for enhancement.
Interpreting business requirements and design application solution.
Assessing work and information flows to identify and recommend appropriate solutions.
Providing overall solutions to complex application problems.
Providing application solutions or making technology selection decisions that are often made in situations where business requirements are not completely defined or changing.
Estimating project work effort where new technology is involved and no guidelines exist.
Making decisions with respect to application solutions or technology selection which impact one or several applications resulting in significant financial impact to the project.What We're Looking For
Extensive Work Experience:
Successful candidates must exhibit CIBC's values of trust, team work, and accountability
Strong experience in leading a development team or acting as a technical lead, solution architect
5+ years, intensive experience in system design and development in all software life cycle phases from proof of concepts, development and implementation
Excellent knowledge of IBM MQ and other messaging techologies; experience in Solace messaging is an asset
5+ years experience in building high performance, multi thread, Web and non-Web based, low latency systems. Experience in building enterprise web applications running on WebLogic or Websphere is necessary.
Nice to have: WebLogic, tomcat, glassfish, JBOSS, .NET, SSIS, TFS, Git
Experience working in financial service industry is an asset
Knowledge of Foreign Exchange products (spot, forward, swap, NDF, etc currencies trading is an asset
Wall Street Systems experience (integration and development) is an asset
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

ConsultingKnowledge of approaches, tools, techniques and roles and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to clients within and outside own area.
Planning: Tactical, StrategicAbility to contribute to operational (short term tactical (1 - 2 years) and strategic (3 - 5 years) planning in support of the business plan.
Wide range of internal and external contacts including directors, senior directors and vice presidents, other technology areas, business clients and vendors.
